Found a period correct metal licence plate dealy from the same dealer my car was originally from. Same fonts and all as the little stick on (now held on by magnet) plastic thing that came with the car when I got it. Just a nice little touch of originality.
The plastic thing for reference.
I think it fits the car well. Now if the Winston-Salem area Oppos could keep an eye out for one of these license plate frames at local garage sales/antique shops, I would be forever grateful.

I read an interesting thing about what the correct placement is for the bumper guards. They changed the location about halfway through 72.
They also changed from chicken wire-esque stuff on the cowl below the wipers to plastic inserts around the same time.
I probably book marked it, but it will take ages to find.

Interesting. I’ve never seen the alternate placements or non wire mesh. I know for sure mine is an early 72 since it was originally bought at the end of January.

Mine is an early 72 as well, it has the wire mesh.
A lady who used to be a scout master of mine has a pinehurst green one that is a late 72 and it has plastic inserts instead. Can’t remember if it has the guards or not.
They moved the guards outward and centered them below the grilles. Don’t really know why, the guards in either spot don’t save these cars from looking like they have a busted nose if something hits the bumper.
